Love Comes Close is the debut full length from Cold Cave. Written and recorded in Philadelphia in 2008-09, the album was released by Heartworm Press and then re-released by Matador Records just as the band was beginning its foray into cult status.
Late night bedroom dark anthems for isolated dreamers with nods to the early years of synth pop and experimentation ala The Human League, Throbbing Gristle and New Order. Along with the title track, songs like "Life Magazine", "Heaven Was Full" and "Youth and Lust" went on to become live staples with their equal measures of romance and nihilism.
Remastered and cut by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service.

lyrics
Help me honey 'cause I can't see
Love's lungs are blowing tear gas at me
Ambulance sirens are screaming my name
And I'm all hopped up on yesterday
London, Paris, Why won't you have me?
My tongue's in the air
My head's on your knees
I know you're married
Yeah I know your pain
Your finger's been strangled
By a cheap promise ring
I'm in a shadow of doubt
With my knife pulled out
At your wedding reception
I started drinking
To say all the things
That I had been thinking
There's too many songs
And nothing to dance to
The future is putrid
I'm useless without you
Jesus and Mary held a seance for me
But I wasn't dead, I was just in Philly
Now I'm on the cover of a magazine
With my finger on the trigger of everything
I read the bible and I understand
I was bored by Heaven and the Holy Land

It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles
Perfectly gloomy Norwegian goth/post-punk, anchored by a punchy rhythm section and driven by chiming guitar lines and morose vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 16, 2021
“Strangers” is packed with wonderfully menacing electro-goth—late-night horror movie music for vampire dance parties. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023
